Lateira Firewood SIA is a manufacturer and exporter of firewood in Latvia. The main products of the company are firewood, pre-packed firewood and pre-packed kindling splints.

The company started its activity in 2010 and since then has been successfully operating in the woodworking sector. Lateira Firewood SIA invests in the continuous development and expansion of the company. New products are being offered as the production facility develops. The company employs more than 35 skilled workers who make sure that customers receive a varied and top quality range of products.

The total area of the plant is 5 hectares, with four wood drying kilns that can dry 400 m3 of firewood at a time. The plant has 3 wood splitting lines, a packing site, and a 1200 m2 warehouse for storing dry, prepared firewood. Following investments made in 2023, the production capacity has been increased and is now able to process up to 3000 m3 of round timber per month.

In 2021, the company was awarded a Heat Treatment Certificate, which means that the heat treatment of the wood packaging material in the plant complies with Cabinet Regulation No. 145 adopted on 28.02.2012 “Regulations Regarding Phytosanitary Measures and Procedures for Their Application to Wood Packaging Material”. During the heat treatment, the temperature inside the wood shall be maintained at 56 °C for at least 30 minutes. This achieves the standard objective of the Certificate, which is to implement phytosanitary measures that reduce the spread of pests and diseases in untreated wood.

Our Achievements

In 2022, the PEFC Chain of Custody certificate was obtained. A large proportion of the raw materials used in production are PEFC-certified wood. PEFC certification for timber products certifies that they come from sustainably and responsibly managed forests, managed according to forest management standards that incorporate the expectations of different interest groups, comply with local legislation and balance economic, environmental and social factors in management standards based on this.

Our Location

The plant of Lateira Firewood SIA is located in South Kurzeme Municipality, Grobiņa Rural Territory “Breči”. The company is always open to cooperation partners. The needs of the customers are taken into account and it is possible to produce firewood tailored to the customer’s needs.

The basic range of Lateira Firewood SIA consists of birch, alder, ash and oak logs, which have an excellent heat output. Dry oak and ash wood give the most heat and burn the longest, but birch and alder wood do the job just as well. The dried firewood produced by the company has a moisture content of less than 20%. Dry firewood is easier to light, smokes less and is more environmentally friendly.
